Trade your Summertime Blues

This weekend officially kicks off the summer travel season with the Memorial Day Holiday. What does that mean for your travel plans? In some cases it means that if you aren’t prepared you could be faced with travel delays, missed connections, and other headaches that come with the territory of trip interruptions. It also means that our lobby will be closed Monday, but as always should you experience a travel emergency we are available on our 24 hour numbers.

We’ve all seen the news reports of TSA lines snaking for hours through airports across the country. In fact, just this week I saw a report of a TSA line that was over an hour long, compared to the TSA pre-check line that was less than a ten minute wait. If you haven’t secured Global Entry for yourself yet, what are you waiting for? Remember, it comes with TSA pre-check!

Summer thunderstorms are widespread across the midwest. It’s only a matter of time before they begin here on the East coast as well. Flight delays from thunderstorms will become increasingly common in the afternoons as we move forward into the summer travel season. If at any time you are uncertain of your connecting flight, or even whether your nonstop flight is going to get you to your destination, that is the time to contact one of the travel professionals at Slaydon’s Travel.

Many times I’m asked, “Why do I need to bother you if I’m already at the airport? I’m still going to have to stand in line to get a new ticket, right?”

Yes, you are going to have to stand in line to get your ticket re-issued, but normally, in the time it takes you to get to the front of that line, we can have you rebooked on that new flight. Perhaps there are only a few seats left on the next flight and there are 30 people in front of you, if you call me I can grab those seats. However, if you wait in the line without calling, those seats will certainly be gone by the time you get to the front.

Still have questions about what to expect? Contact me, or one of the other travel professionals at Slaydon’s Travel. We can make getting there as easy as being there!
